Alcohol is the industry default because it's cheap, evaporates fast, and projects loudly. It also dries out skin, disrupts how a scent develops, and carries synthetic compounds efficiently into the bloodstream. We use certified organic jojoba instead. It's closest to your skin's own sebum, absorbs cleanly, and lets the oils develop naturally.

It's one of the most skin-compatible carriers available, doesn't go rancid like most plant oils, and doesn't interfere with how the essential oils smell or behave on skin.

The jojoba carrier is certified organic. Essential oils are sourced for purity and quality first: some are certified organic (geranium, ylang ylang, vanilla CO₂ for example), others are wild-harvested or steam-distilled from small producers where certification isn't the right measure. We prioritise what's actually in the bottle over what's on the paperwork.

Active projection lasts around 2-4 hours (depending on the scent and person's skin type). A close skin scent continues for up to 8-12+ hours depending on skin chemistry. Natural fragrance behaves the way fragrance always did before the industry engineered it to last artificially. Reapplication is normal.

Synthetic cologne projects loudly for 4+ hours because lab-made molecules are engineered for longevity. Safety isn't the priority in that engineering. Fast food is engineered for taste at the cost of health. Synthetic fragrance is the same trade-off. Sylvawell is built from plant materials only. It's softer, closer to the skin, and honest about how natural fragrance actually performs.

Post-shower, or on clean, non-sweaty skin. Roll onto pulse points: wrists, neck, inner elbows, behind the ears. Let it absorb. Don't rub. You can really apply it anywhere, however; outside of elbows works really well if you're not wearing a long sleeve - for example.

It depends entirely on usage. Assuming you're applying it 7 days a week, twice a day, you can expect weeks of daily use. Roll-ons deliver less product per application than sprays, so a 10 mL vial goes further than you'd expect. An approximation would be anywhere from 60 to one 100 uses.

Keep them somewhere cool, dark, and dry. A drawer, cupboard, or bedside table is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, heaters, the inside of a car, or a steamy bathroom. Essential oils are living natural materials and heat, light, and oxygen slowly change how they smell over time.

Unopened, 18-24 months. Once opened, best used within 12 months for peak scent. After that it won't go off, but the top notes (bergamot, petitgrain, sweet orange) soften first while the base notes (sandalwood, frankincense, vanilla, patchouli) deepen. Some people actually prefer the vial a few months in.
