What the research says
Phthalates. A 2018 systematic review found robust evidence linking DEHP and DBP to reduced semen quality and lowered testosterone.†
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals. A 2025 review of a decade of human studies found them consistently associated with infertility, hormonal disruption and reduced fertility in both men and women.‡
Synthetic musks. Used as fragrance fixatives, they have been detected in human blood, umbilical cord blood and breast milk, so they do not simply leave the body after you wash.§
